Están recolectando muestras geológicas, biológicas, químicas y de otros tipos en esta formación creada por la última erupción del volcán Cumbre Vieja (ese respiradero eruptivo es ahora conocido como Tajogaite) entre septiembre y diciembre de 2021. Desde julio de 2022, este equipo de expertos ha estado recorriendo los paisajes áridos dejados por Tajogaite en busca de tubos volcánicos.

Eduardo Díaz Martín (right) and Octavio Fernández Lorenzo (left), members of the multidisciplinary team formed by the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME) and the Canarian Federation of Speleology and Canyon Descents, are exploring a broader lava channel, the widest found on the island so far. They are collecting geological, biological, chemical, and other samples in this formation created by the last eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano (that eruptive vent is now known as Tajogaite) between September and December 2021. Since July 2022, this team of experts has been traversing the barren landscapes left by Tajogaite in search of volcanic tubes.
